Thankful Thursday

The crickets have been talking about all of the things they have to be thankful for.  We are all really thankful that we can have a warm place to have our Thanksgiving feasts.  The Pilgrims were thankful that they had a successful harvest and that the Native Americans helped them to learn how to survive the harsh winters.  Yesterday we were able to watch the Circle of Courage children perform traditional Abenaki dances and songs.  We learned that in their culture you do not clap at the end of a performance, because it will make it rain, you raise your left fist and nod it saying nay, nay, nay.  I really enjoyed hearing about all of your Thanksgiving traditions and the crickets have written about them and they will be on display in our classroom.  I read a poem about my favorite tradition, the wishbone!  I am thankful to have such a wonderful first grade class and I cannot wait to share their successes with you during Parent Teacher conferences.

Fantastic Friday

Crickets have been busy this week learning about ways to be caring.  We have learned how to be caring in the classroom, on the playground, and in the lunchroom.  As a class we are sending hearts to all of the adults in our school telling them that a cricket cares about them! (Thanks for the idea Mrs. Dietsche!).    They are having fun decorating the hearts and they are all unique and beautiful.  We also had a special guest at the all school assembly!  Swannie visited to teach us how to wash our hands properly, which is so important this time of year!  Unfortunately my friends will not blog this week as our blog has been blocked on the netbooks.  We are working this out.  Technology a blessing and a curse.  Hope you all enjoy the beautiful weekend.
I care about all of you,  Mrs. Caswell

Thinking on Thursday

Today the crickets will blog by themselves for the first time!  Let's hear what they have to say about our 50th day of school, what they are thankful for, or what is on their mind!
