What a beautiful day it was today. The snowflakes are big and fluffy and the sounds of children laughing and playing in the snow are outside our window! The crickets will have a new friend start school on Monday. We are very happy to have her in our room. What a great opportunity for our crickets to put into practice all they have learned about belonging and caring. I asked the crickets how they might help make our new friend feel like she belongs.

We have been talking in class about all of the many holiday traditions, from Hanukkah, and Christmas to Kwanzaa. We have talked about the many ways lights are used to celebrate. We have also talked about the many ways to show that you care during this time of the year. We have had our first snowstorm and have had our first snow day! I asked the crickets what they like to do for fun in the snow. Let's see what they had to say. Sending wishes for peace and happiness, Mrs. Caswell

As you know a big holiday is right around the corner. Many of my crickets have so much to tell me about their traditions and their wishes. Today I read a poem about one of my family's favorite traditions, Christmas caroling. Every year several families that we know and love get together to go caroling. We meet at our friends house in Sheldon and pile into a trailer filled with hay bales and lit by lanterns. We are towed along by a lawn tractor to houses in their neighborhood stopping to sing at each one. We then return to their toasty warm home for a pot luck dinner and yummy desserts. It is something we look forward to every year. I asked our crickets what is something they look forward to every holiday season?
